Wominjeka everyone!
As you know I'm thrilled to be back at great park venues in 2022.
Wominjeka means "come with purpose" and our purpose is fun, love and making many connections through and with music.
We would like welcome anyone who wants to begin a lifelong love of music to come with purpose and make music with us this year.
One of the reasons I like being in the park is it brings us closer to Country. Being on Country also brings potential to come alongside Indigenous ways of knowing and being and celebrate the custodians of the land we conduct our music class on.
This is why we pay our respect through a sung Acknowledgment to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Peoples of the Kulin Nation before our sessions .
For music this year we will gather together on our newly purchased Indigenous gathering mat from Emro Designs which is a 100% Aboriginal Owned and Operated business, (https://emrodesigns.com.au/)
Being on Country also means nature makes it's way into our music classes naturally - songs about birds, trees, flowers, sticks and rain all take on new and deeper meaning and this list goes on.
Did you know sustainability has always been an important part of the philosophy of BLMF?
From it's inception in 2006, we have always promoted sustainability across the program particularly through our use of household items or natural items such as boxes, sticks and stones to make music with.
You can see this in the way we conduct and operate our business.
My fabulous E-Bike gets me places fast and uses no fossil fuels - (including charging my battery using solar power) and anytime I purchase something new to use in the program it must pass through my sustainable decision making framework.
We've got bubbles back!!!
Recently I sourced a new battery operated bubble machine and tried it out at the park today. It's great and much more sustainable due to it's rechargeable battery!
So much to look forward to at music each week. See you in the park soon.
